Air Band - AM Radio Receiver Kit

Full English instructions which include plenty of close-up images to show each stage of the construction will be e-mailed to you when make the purchase.

There is a great "YouTube" constructors video -

or search for the title which is:

Lockdown LIVE : Airband Radio kit build Pt. 1 and Part 2

a great help with this project.

Resistors come pre-sorted and their values identified as they can be difficult to decode using the colour code rings.

All component sorted and labelled in separate bags by type.

I've used the components provided to set mine up to evaluate, however here's a link to SWLing.com where there lots of info on modding and improving the circuit.

Features:

12V power supply, the 9.2x7.5cm PCB board can be placed in an enclosure of approx. 97x40x120mm such as an aluminum box - (not included)

AGC circuit to ensure comfortable listening, while the noise-canceling function (squelch) avoids listening to noise for a long time.

Printed directly on the PCB board component identification number greatly simplifying assembly.  Complete with full parts list to aid identification and finding position of components on the PCB.

Original circuit diagram and (ChinEnglish) instructions included too.

Circuit consists of a band-pass filter, 3355 high-level, NE602 mixer, MC1350 IF amplifier , can receive 118-136MHz.

Portions of this band, 108 to 118 MHz, are used for certain NAVAIDs; 118 to 136 MHz are used for civil air/ground voice communications. Other frequencies in this band are used for purposes not related to air traffic control.

For this application the circuit is used for receiving calls between the aircraft and the tower.

Circuit is designed to match antenna of 50 Ohms for good performance antenna (VHF Yagi recommended), it can receive signals within approximately 190Km between the various types of aircraft and the tower calls.  If you live close to an airport there lots more traffic from the tower / radar approach - and signal strength will be much better so that an efficient high gain antenna will not necessarily be required.
